Now that we’ve covered the green smoothie recipe essentials, let’s dive into some frequently asked questions:

Green Smoothie FAQ’s

Are Green Smoothies Really That Good For You?

Yes. Drinking a green smoothie really is that amazingly good for you.

I realize having a green smoothie may sound like a cheesy life hack. Drink your vegetables?

But yes! Drink your vegetables in a delicious, quick way!

Imagine if I told you that you could become significantly healthier with just a few dedicated minutes per day? Would you say ‘yes’ to that?

Of course you would! And that’s why drinking a green smoothie is a true life hack and is really that good for you.

What Is The Best Green For Smoothies?

Sometimes people ask if there is a ‘best’ vegetable.

There’s not.

I prefer spinach, but you may prefer kale. Or chard. There are many different greens to choose from and honestly, the important part is that it tastes good to you.

The nutritional differences between chard, kale or spinach are miniscule.

The important thing is like the doctor said, eat your green veggies! Or in our case, drink a green smoothie!

Is It Good To Have A Green Smoothie For Breakfast?

breakfast green smoothie good idea

Sure, why not?

Breakfast is an important part of your day and jumpstarts your metabolism.

See, when you go to bed at night your metabolism slows down. And your metabolism doesn’t ignite the next day until your stomach gets some food in it!

Plus, there have been plenty of studies that indicate eating a wholesome breakfast is part of a healthy lifestyle.

But, don’t be silly! Green smoothies are good for you, period!

Breakfast, lunch, snack, dinner.  Anytime, anywhere.

Of course, breakfast before covid was usually the most hurried, hastily put together meal of the whole day.

You might have been running out the door to work, getting the kids out of bed, and leaving early to beat traffic.

You didn’t have time to eat a nice whole grain bagel with seeds, eggs and peppers.

Previously, because of the lack of time, you may have had to settle for fast food, junk food or in many cases you may have just skipped breakfast entirely.

Butone of the biggest benefits of green smoothies is that you save time!

It’s the time-saving benefits, along with the nutritional benefits, that make green smoothies so incredibly useful and amazing for your health.

What if you substituted a wholesome green smoothie for your crappy fast food or simple muffin? Or if you stopped skipping breakfast and instead filled up your body with the natural ingredients found in the smoothie?

I’m sure you get the point. Green smoothies can be awesome for breakfast, especially because breakfast for so many people isn’t the meal of the day.

But from a nutritional standpoint, having a green smoothie for lunch is pretty much the same as breakfast.

Summary: Have a green smoothie for breakfast if you are short on time. Otherwise, just drink those green shakes any time. It’s hard to go wrong!

What Are The Healthiest Things To Put In A Green Smoothie?

Generally speaking, it’s not about finding the healthiest things to put in a smoothie.

For example, I’ve heard that dragon fruit is incredibly nutritious, but my local Safeway doesn’t sell dragonfly fruit. At least I don’t think it does!

If you do want a list of superfoods, read this science article here about the people in ‘bluezones’ eat. They must be onto something because they live to be over 100 years old!

Overall though, I trust that you know what a green leafy vegetable is, right? I think you also know what a frozen fruit is, and that you can get some yogurt.

What are you waiting for? Are you missing a blender to mix?

Green Smoothie Kitchen Accessories

In the video I showed my Nutribullet blender. Now here are some other tools to make a delicious green smoothie!

The Nutribullet blender is a great addition if you like to keep things simple.

There are no buttons on the blender. You just press the smoothie container down firmly and the blades will spin quickly and automatically.

However, be careful that you don’t blend the Nutribullet for too long.

The directions clearly say to not blend the Nutribullet for more than a minute. But, silly me, one day I totally got curious about what would happen if I blended for more than a minute.

Could I get my leafy greens to turn into pure liquid?

Suddenly, the Nutribullet died after about 3 minutes of blending. I was disappointed, but could only blame myself.

Fortunately, the Nutribullet customer support team is awesome, which is why I highly recommend their product if you need a simple, easy blender.

Their customer support team mailed me an entirely new blender! And I didn’t even mention that I was a food blogger!

Of course, not everyone wants the simple option for their blender.

Here are a few other options and kitchen accessories you might want to have on hand!

Blenders

  • Vitamix – a bit more expensive, but more options and power too

Protein Powder

  • Amazing Grass Superfood – if you want those superfoods without the ingredients you’ve never heard of before, try this blend out!

Mason Jars

  • Mason jars – simple, but fancy as well. I didn’t show this in the video but I usually pour my smoothie into a mason jar 🙂
